نوايا | Forethoughtfulness

Forethoughtfulness questions the notion of Intention. Once flesh and bone are framed as a Medium, the materials lose the essence of what they were by becoming what they are not. The work explores the roles of all components that come together to create an exhibition, including but not limited to the artist, the art handlers, the curator, the venue and the viewer. The Frames only exist as a materialized question of intention and the values that lead to the ideation of any exhibition.

Maktoum Al Maktoum is a Dubai-based multidisciplinary artist and curator whose practice explores the intricacies of the human condition. Drawing on themes such as value, time, space, belief systems and the human psyche. His work takes a narrative-driven, world-building approach to uncover meaning and association. His artwork has been exhibited at The Nest Festival in Bahrain (2024) and the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival (2023). As a curator, he has contributed to major cultural platforms including the Dubai Calligraphy Biennale (2023) and led the curation of the Sikka Art & Design Festival (2025).
