Nuhayr Zein is the Egyptian designer and architect behind Leukeather, the world’s first plant-based emboss-free exotic leather alternative. Her project began with a simple observation of river tamarind trees near her home shedding brown pods, and grew into a full-scale sustainable design exploration transforming overlooked botanicals into a durable, flexible, and luxuriously textured material. Her work blends digitally carved oak with this plant-based textile, creating a striking balance getween the engineered and the organic.
